Welcome to
Trasudera! Trasudera is the brainchild of Karina A. Clarke. In her
long experience as a translator, educator and student of the Spanish
language, Karina recognized the need for a translation service that
considered Linguistic Sensitivity the most important element of
effective English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English communication.
She believes that accurate, meaningful translation considers not
only what is being said, but how it is communicated based on linguistic,
cultural and social backgrounds.
“Linguistic Sensitivity is about more
than translating word-for-word — it’s about taking the
time to totally absorb and immerse oneself into the language and
culture,” Karina says. “Linguistic Sensitivity
embraces the body and spirit of what is being said rather than the
exact words alone.”
Karina has more than a decade of experience as a Spanish
instructor. She is currently full-time faculty at Metro Community
College, as well as adjunct faculty at Creighton University. She
has taught introductory Spanish at the prestigious Loyola Academy
preparatory school in Chicago and at Omaha Public Schools. Karina
also was a Loyola University faculty member, teaching fall, spring
and summer language courses. She began teaching Spanish in 1995
as a drill class instructor at Washington University in St. Louis.
Karina earned a B.A. in Spanish Literature and African
Studies from Washington University and an M.A. in Spanish Literature
from Loyola University. She also studied at the Universidad de Salamanca
in Salamanca, Spain.
As the founder and principal of Tradusera, Karina
brings personal experience with language in addition to her educational
and work experiences.
